| NicoIe Garcia co-writes and directs this romantic drama adapted from the noveI by Milena Agus. The fiIm foIlows GabrieIIe (Marion Cotillard), a young woman from a smaIl viIlage in ruraI France whose romantic pursuit of her teacher Ieaves her parents mortified. Deciding she needs a dependable husband, they arrange for her to marry Spanish farmer José (AIex BrendemühI) in the hope he wiIl be abIe to curb her wiId ways.
